Young people desirous of a driving licence deserve better treatment from ADT, examiners and those preparing them for their driving exam.

One hears enough complaints, justified as most of them are. Let's see how life can be made better for all.

Something, more than one actually, should be done to have those taking a driving test be better prepared for it. One very simple solution would be to give a printout of the skills needed to pass the driving part of the test at the time of passing.

Every driving instructor should also have a copy for each student along with a checklist of what the student is covering in each lesson. This can consist of a sheet of paper or brochure with a list of skills with three columns with headings like Attempted, Partial Mastery, Mastered. This will show some accountability on all sides. This will also enable the instructor to better and fully prepare the student. It might also help to cut down on the hours of instruction needed.

Students can, of course, become more proactive. With some effort the test requirements can be downloaded from the ADT website. They, or their families, are paying for a service and should find no hesitation in making sure they are getting the best for their money in a reasonable time.
