One of the largest international online gaming companies in Malta, Betsson, is to invest €5.5 million in new premises in Malta and will employ a further 200 people by the end of next year, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech announced this afternoon.

The company came to Malta five years ago, initially employing 100, and now has 500 people on its books.

Speaking during a visit to the company, whose first office he had also inaugurated five years ago, Mr Fenech said Malta was now home to 250 online betting operators, proving jobs to 7,000 people, twice as much as five years ago.

This, he said, was a tribute to government policies and the effectiveness and efficiency of Malta’s regulatory regime.
