David Beckham has spoken of his and Victoria's excitement about the prospect of becoming parents for the fourth time.

The star said wife Victoria, 36, who is due to give birth in the summer, was in excellent health and "feeling good".

Speaking while visiting the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, he said: "She's great, she's very healthy. She's feeling good. She's in London at the moment working.

"We're very excited. It's an exciting time for the family."

David, 35, is apart from the Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer as he limbers up for LA Galaxy's first game of the season next week.

The couple already have three boys, Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six.

The football star, who met sick youngsters in LA, said he took his own children with him on hospital visits to show them that life can be hard.

"It's difficult at times, especially for the parents of children that are ill and don't have long to live," he said.

"I think it's important that my children see that and they do, they're very respectful and they love visiting hospitals.

"They always pick toys out that are even their favourites that they take down to different kids in different hospitals. The boys love doing that," he said.
