Baystreet Hotel in Paceville has been approved to build an additional three storeys.

The extension would allow the hotel’s operators to continue to upgrade their tourism product and increase their profitability and competitive edge, especially in the light of the highly volatile international tourism market, Mepa said in a statement.

The extension will accommodate 53 new guest rooms and a multi-purpose hall. The planning application benefited from the approved new revised hotels height limitation adjustment policy which seeks to facilitate the vertical extension of hotels that are rated as three star or above.

Through this policy, hotels can apply for permission to increase their height beyond the limitation in the Local Plan, provided that the resultant design features a high quality product.
