Transport Malta said it was monitoring Marsaxlokk Bay for possible diesel contamination following a spill reported on Monday evening.

The spill happened during loading operations at the Ħas-Saptan Fuelling Dolphin at about 7.30pm, the regulator said yesterday.

Transport Malta took immediate action to get the spill cleaned up. Booms were used to minimise the spread in an operation that continued through Monday night.

No oil pollution was noticed along the coastline from Qajjenza to Pretty Bay.
