Bay Kids Week, to be held between April 4 and 9, will feature a host of charity fundraising events to raise funds for a 17-seater van for Dar il-Kaptan in Mtarfa.

On Dress Down Day, employees and schoolchildren will be able to dress in casual clothes in exchange for a small fee donated to the Bay Kids fund. A number of schools and organisations have confirmed their participation.

There will be bowling for children at the Eden Super Bowl starting each evening at 7 p.m. Entertainment personalities will kick off the bowling sessions.

The highlight of the week will be on April 9 when 89.7Bay presenters will take part in the ‘Bed-push’ fundraising event in Republic Street, Valletta.

It will start at 10.30 a.m. in Freedom Square and will end in St George’s Square. University students will be taking donations for Bay Kids along Republic Street.

The week will end with the traditional party at the KU Club in Gozo, hosted by the station’s DJs with the participation of top local singers.

Bay Kids Week is an initiative of Bay Radio. Every year the money collected is donated to a needy organisation.

The initiative began in 2007 when a van was donated to St Joseph’s Home, followed by a better-equipped therapy centre for Fra Diego Home in Ħamrun, a seven-seater van for the Richmond Foundation, and another van for Dar Sagra Familja in Żabbar last year.

Dar il-Kaptan offers respite care to children and adults with disabilities and their families.
