Detroit Pistons guard Chauncey Billups has become an unrestricted free agent after opting out of the final year of his contract. The Pistons said Billups' move toward free agency came as no surprise, adding that re-signing the point guard remains a top priority over the summer. The 30-year-old Billups was due to make about $6.8 million next season.
