The LA Lakers have announced that head coach Rudy Tomjanovich is considering stepping down due to ill health after less than seven months at the helm. A spokesman said it would not be appropriate to discuss Tomjanovich's problems although they were unrelated to the bladder cancer which forced him to step down as coach of the Houston Rockets in 2003. The team, which won three NBA titles under predecessor Phil Jackson, has been struggling this season with a 23-19 record.
