Victoria Hotspurs 1
Xewkija Tigers 1

Victoria Hotspurs and Xewkija Tigers, two sides struggling to move away from the relegation zone, left the pitch with a point each from their head-to-head clash.

Neither team will have been satisfied with the drawn outcome. Victoria had former Sannat defender James Buttigieg making his debut while Xewkija included goalkeeper Victor Agius who joined them from Qala.

Xewkija showed the better ideas in the early stages but gradually, Victoria began to push forward with some purpose, creating good attempts at goal through Kenneth Abela, Joseph Mizzi and Reuben Mercieca.

Just before the break, the Hotspurs opened the scoring when Mercieca placed inside the Tigers' net after some good work from Victor Egere.

Xewkija were stunned. Not only was their reaction disjointed but they to withstand more pressure from Victoria who could have increased their lead midway through the second half had it not been for Agius who blocked in time on John Paul Grima.

The Tigers scored an equaliser 15 minutes from time when substitute Mark Camilleri hit home after receiving from Rais.

The two teams tried to score the winner to improve their position in the standings. Victoria had a clear Abela chance which went wide.

Referee: Edward Spiteri.

St Lawrence Spurs joined Xaghra United at the top after a dramatic 3-2 victory over SK Victoria Wanderers. The latter were by far the better side in the first part of the match, during which they stormed into a two-goal lead with strikes from Mark Meilak and Anthony Ewrum.

Just before the break, Jamie Enriquez pulled one back for the Spurs. Matthew Francalanza leveled the score in the 67th minute and deep into stoppage time Charles Mercieca completed the Spurs' comeback with another goal.

Xaghra qualified for the final of the FXB Div. II KO competition after a 3-0 victory over Oratory Youths. They will meet Qala SJ in the final later on this season.
