Labour leadership contender Evarist Bartolo yesterday insisted that by maximising the talents of people within and outside the party as well as by strengthening the dialogue with civil society, the MLP can make a better contribution towards making Malta a better country.
Speaking in Gozo, Mr Bartolo spelt out his vision for the party and the country. He said he would work to make theMLP more inclusive and accept different opinions by developing "a new culture" of how to work together internally as well as with society.
Mr Bartolo said that in order to be more successful, the Maltese had to develop further their capabilities within an environment promoting innovation.
"In order to remain relevant in this day and age, the Labour Party has to change the way it does politics and apart from remaining in contact with citizens, it should make better use of the technological advances so that together we can improve the quality of life."
Mr Bartolo also spoke about the need to enter into discussions with workers, their representatives and employers in order to improve productivity and competitiveness.
