A 31-year-old man from Bangladesh was this afternoon handed a suspended sentence after he admitted to selling counterfeit wallets on the Sliema promenade.

Moshiaar Rahman, who lives in Gzira, admitted to selling counterfeit wallets but insisted he imported the items from India and did not know they were fakes.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona heard the man plead guilty to the charges brought against him. He jailed him for six months suspended for one year.

Police Inspector Jason Francis Sultana prosecuted while lawyer Mark Mifsud Cutajar appeared for the accused.
