Balzan and Floriana cancelled each other in a goalless draw at the Tedesco Stadium today.

The match was evenly balanced for long stretches with Floriana showing the better ideas in the opening 45 minutes.

Floriana threatened on 27 minutes when they were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the area and Daniel Bogdanovic’s curling drive whizzed past the post.

The Greens’ best chance came on the half hour when Igor Coronado’s deflected cross was nodded down by Steve Pisani into the path of Bogdanovic who saw his close-range effort somehow pushed over by Balzan goalkeeper Daniel Martinez.

After the interval the match remained evenly balanced with Floriana coming close on 53 minutes when Coronado played in Pisani who quickly directed the ball towards goal but substitute Luke Casha, who had replaced the injured Bogdanovic, just failed to make contact with the ball in front of a gaping goal.

Balzan, on their part, also had a good opportunity to take all points when fourteen minutes from time, Balzan when Brooke Farrugia’s back pass was intercepted by Dylan Grima but the nippy midfielder was blocked by Handford.

Floriana defender Ibok Edet was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
