A young man who misled the police for a whole week during investigations this morning pleaded not guilty to being in possession of cocaine and mephedrone in Paceville and seriously injuring a man.

The 17-year-old man from St Julian's also pleaded not guilty to breaching the peace, carrying a glass in the street and breaching the conditions of a previous release.

Police Inspector Rosanne Debattista told the court she had investigated the accused over another issue and he had misled the investigations for a whole week.

It was following this that his drug problem became apparent. Inspector Debattista said the accused told her that whenever he took drugs he became very violent and paranoid.

Lawyer Franco Debono requested bail which was granted by Magistrate Antonio Mizzi against a personal guarantee of €2,000.
