The man charged with murdering his 61-year-old father-in-law in front of the man's daughter and her children has been granted bail against a personal guarantee of €30,000 and a deposit of €30,000.

Joseph Caruana was killed in October of last year.

Testifying in the compilation of evidence against Gregorio (Godwin) Scicluna, who is pleading not guilty to murder, a witness for the prosecution, Reno Said, said Mr Scicluna and his wife Simone had a volatile relationship.

He recalled one incident when, during an argument with his wife during a meal,  the defendant had struck his baby son with a fork while he was gesticulating.
