A 25-year-old man from Pembroke was this morning granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €5,000 after he pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring a doctor at the Detox Centre.
Nicholas Vella pleaded not guilty to having slightly injured, attacked and threatened Dr Joseph Tonna.
He also pleaded not guilty to breaching the peace, swearing in public and relapsing.
Defence lawyer Chris Busietta said that if the magistrate saw Mr Vella's police statement, she would see that although it was clear there had been an argument between the two, the issue had been blown out of proportion.
