Nizar El Gabi, the Libyan man accused of the murder of his former partner, lawyer Margaret Mifsud, has been denied bail.

The decision was taken today by Mr Justice Lawrence Quintano.

A court last week ruled there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial.

Dr Mifsud was found dead in her car in Baħar ic-Ċagħaq in April. The prosecution had said his DNA was found in her car and underneath her fingernails. Phone records also showed he had followed her on the fateful night.

He is pleading not guilty.
