The Nigerian refugee who was yesterday remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to being in possession of cannabis for his personal use, was again denied bail today.

Saheed Olowoshile, 34, from St Paul’s Bay told the court yesterday that he was married and had a child and that the cannabis was for his own personal use.

The magistrate ordered a pre-sentencing report to see if the man had an addiction problem and asked for evidence of his marriage.

Bail was denied today because his Nigerian wife told the magistrate that she and her husband were not legally married.
