The third Malta International Youth Tournament will be played at St Martin's College, Swatar, over the weekend. This year, the tournament will feature U-18 players from two countries. In addition to the Malta squad, the event will also see the participation of the Hurlford Badminton Club from Scotland. There will also be a team from Sicily.

Daniela Magri, Fiorella Farrugia, Fleur Fenech, Maria Borg, Albert Bezzina, Christopher Spiteri, Edmond De Giovanni and Adrian Chetcuti will play for Malta. The coach is Norman Spiteri.

The tournament starts with the team event on Saturday and draws to a close the next day at around noon with the presentation ceremony. This will be presided over by Janatha Stubbs, sponsor of the tournament.

A spokesman stated that the organisation of such tournaments was in line with the Badminton Association's commitment to give international exposure to its better players, thereby increasing their experience while motivating them to higher achievement. He also thanked Mrs Stubbs and Island Beverages Ltd for their assistance and support.
