On the eve of the new Bundesliga season, Bayern Munich’s France star Franck Ribery said he wants to put last season’s poor form behind him and aims to be “100 per cent fit”.

The 27-year-old had a season to forget in 2009/2010 as he struggled with injury, became involved in an under-age call-girl scandal and was banned for the Champions League final defeat to Inter after a dangerous tackle.

Things did not improve in South Africa at the World Cup and after France failed to qualify from Group A, Ribery was banned for three games for his involvement in the player revolt after Nicolas Anelka was sent home.

“Last season was very sad for me, my family and everyone here,” Ribery told German television channel TV Sport 1.

“This season, I will be 100 per cent fit and play in all the games. I will play a great season – for myself, the club and all fans.”

Bayern will start the defence of their Bundesliga crown tomorrow against Wolfsburg at Munich’s Allianz Arena and Ribery said he is ready for the season ahead.

“I’ve trained well and worked my way back to fitness after my injury,” he said with his contract at Bayern set to run until May 2015.

“For me, Bayern is a big club with great people. It’s like a family and that is important.”

Ribery said Bayern’s main title rivals this season will be Schalke, Leverkusen, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg.
