Former prime minister George Borg Olivier’s statue was put back in its place at Castille Square yesterday in time for the Independence celebrations. It was under his premiership in 1964 that Malta gained independence, a feast to be celebrated on Monday. The monument had been temporarily removed for the €1.6m embellishment works in the square.
