A Bachelor’s degree in radiography is to start being offered at the University of Malta as from October.

This will be possible following the signing of an agreement this morning between the universities of Malta and Cardiff.

The degree will include diagnostic and therapeutic studies.

A spokesman for the Health Ministry said that this degree was being offered in preparation for the opening of a new oncology centre at Mater Dei, in two years’ time.

Until today, Maltese students were only trained in diagnostics locally and studied therapeutics abroad.

As a result of this agreement, they will now be studying both in Malta with training in therapeutics offered by Cardiff.

The first intake for the degree is made up of 12 students.
