The Broadcasting Authority said this afternoon that it is in contact with all parties concerned so that a press conference by Labour leader Alfred Sant which was meant to be broadcast today would be carried tomorrow.

Explaining the circumstances which led to the calling off of the recording of the press conference this afternoon, the BA said it was the practice that candidates for the general or local elections did not attend press conferences it organized . This was among the conditions for political broadcasts which had been sent to the political parties and all parties concerned. The relevant press release was issued on February 7, 2008.

For today’s press conference, Media.link Communications had informed the authority that it would be represented by Amanda Ciappara, but shortly before the recording, the authority was informed that Ms Ciappara could not attend and another journalist would replace her. Dr Pullicino Orlando then showed up as the journalist.

The authority said it explained to Dr Pullicno Orlando that according to the rules, he could not participate in the conference. Since he refused to leave the studio the recording could not be held, the authority said.
