Michael Galea has decided not to renew his contract with Birkirkra, the club announced this evening.

It also announced it has signed Spanish goalkeeper Jorge Febles Mora, who also played for the team two seasons ago.

The club quoted Galea as saying his decision to leave the club was not an easy one, and he was grateful to the Birkirkara FC committee for its help in understanding the situation.

"The past 14 years at the club have been wonderful for me and I am proud to have contributed to many of the success that Birkirkara have enjoyed throughout these years. I wish the club the very best for the future and assure everyone that I will remain a Birkirkara supporter in the years to come."

Michael Galea made 334 appearances for Birkirkara and scored 177 goals. He is the 3rd best scorer ever in Maltese football, after Stefan Sultana and Gilbert Agius.

Birkirkara also expressed its appreciation to the player.
