Couturier Azzedine Alaïa, who has dressed the likes of Grace Kelly, Tina Turner, Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, Madonna and Michelle Obama, will be releasing his first fragrance later this year.

“Creating a perfume is to confide in a woman, to steal her thoughts of tomorrow and run away with her before she ever looks back,” the designer said.

At a young age he was introduced to Vogue magazine by a friend of his mother’s, which ignited his passion for couture, and he eventually graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts. He then left to Paris to work as a dressmaker’s assistant and later worked with Christian Dior and Thierry Mugler.

Willing to follow his own conventions and ignore fashion schedules, Alaïa now presents his collections at his own pace, in his own space in Paris’s Marais neighbourhood, where he brought his creative workshop, boutique, showroom and even a boutique hotel together under one roof.

Alaïa is represented by C+M Marketing Ltd. For trade enquiries, call 2142 4079.
