Formed in 2006, the Institute of Place Management is the international professional body that supports people committed to developing, managing and making places better. Initially developed by the Manchester Metropolitan University and the Association of Town Centre Management, who jointly recognised a need to create a professional body capable of developing and supporting the creation of sustainable formal structures of place management and ensuring professional standards among those involved in managing, developing and marketing places.

IPM Fellow status is given to those who have reached a high level of personal and professional achievement within the industry. It is only open to those who hold a higher degree, have at least six years’ practical experience and who can demonstrate that they have had a considerable impact upon place management.

Mr Zarb is a visiting senior lecturer at the Institute of Travel, Tourism and Culture at the University of Malta, a fellow and board member of the Tourism Society UK, a fellow of the Institute of Hospitality, founder chairman of the Malta Tourism Society, a researcher and local tourism planning consultant.
