St Agatha’s Tower in Mellieħa has been awarded the Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence after becoming a great attraction for thousands of tourists who visit Malta.
Also referred to as the Red Tower, it was built between 1647 and 1648 to protect the channels between Malta, Comino and Gozo from invasion. Tourists have constantly reported positive reviews on Trip Advisor, which led to the tower being presented with this prestigious award, said Din l-Art Ħelwa, the guardian of this historic site.
This was an honour for those hard-working volunteers who manned the tower and welcomed guests, the NGO said. It was also a tribute to Din l-Art Ħelwa, which manages the tower with funds collected from members, sponsors and benefactors.
