Michael Briguglio, from the Department of Sociology at the University of Malta, was awarded a certificate of achievement from the Green Economics Institute (UK).

The award is "for long standing support and hard work on behalf of the Green Economics Institute and contributing to the development of green economics, its youth work, and its academic work and its global reach. For publishing and presenting consistently top quality work and writing".

Mr Briguglio, who is chairman of Alternattiva Demokratika, participated in the seventh Green Economics Institute conference at Mansfield College, University of Oxford.

He presented a case study focusing on Maltese environmental NGOs and land rationalisation in an EU context, from his PhD dissertation which is due for examination later this year.
