Transport Minister Austin Gatt was discharged from hospital this afternoon after treatment for severe abdominal pain and dyspepsia.

Investigation and intervention revealed peptic ulceration, the Transport Ministry said.

The minister, who was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital last night, was given the appropriate medical treatment and advice on convalescence.

His engagements for this week were cancelled, but he will attend and vote in Parliament this week. He returns to his normal schedule on Monday.

The minister thanked doctors and staff at Mater Dei for their care.
