The De La Salle Drama Group would like to announce that auditions are soon to take place for its upcoming musical. This year the Drama Group is inviting everyone to join them in a journey back in time.
The Musical BACK TO THE 80’s will be put up at De La Salle College in the first weekend of November. Set in the USA, Back To The 80's tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School that graduated in the 1980's, as remembered and seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer, who is now 30-something.
From the era that brought the world The Rubik's Cube, Max Headroom and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes this "totally awesome" musical in the style of movies such as Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Karate Kid and The Wedding Singer.
Join the graduating class of William Ocean High School as they live through their final senior year - as they experience the fun, the heartbreak, the loves and the loneliness of growing up.... all set to the biggest hits of the 80's!!

People who wish to audition should be older than 14 years of age but not older than 40, and should have some sort of link with the Lasallian schools in Malta, be it a present or former student, teacher or relative.
Those auditioning for a main role will be given a script to read from during the audition, and will also be asked to perform a short dance routine which will be taught to them on the day. A song corresponding to the character to be auditioned for must be prepared together with a backing track. Dancers will need to prepare a routine to one of the following songs: (I've Had) The Time of My Life, Footloose, Mickey, and Total Eclipse of the Heart. A 2 minute routine is enough, the whole song need not be choreographed.
Those who wish to audition for a role in the choir must prepare any song from the song list, and will be asked to perform a short routine which will be taught on the day.

A novelty for the annual musical is the introduction of a live band. The Drama group will also be holding auditions for musicians of the following instruments: piano, drums, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, electric guitar, bass guitar and synthesizer. Audition details for the band will be announced at a later stage, however anyone interested in auditioning should send an email on info@dlsdrama.com.
