Three hundred fine, rare arms and military artefacts went under the hammer over the weekend, some fetching hundreds and even thousands of euros.
Auctioneer Pierre Grech Pillow said attendance was high and a collection offered by a German firearm enthusiast attracted a European buyer. The event was organised by Obelisk Auctions at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard.
The items included military and sport-related arms as well as militaria dating from the 19th century to recent times.
Bidding was open to licensed collectors and target shooters. However, persons who were interested in the subject were also assisted in acquiring the necessary licences.
The auction was held in collaboration with guest consultant Stephen Petroni.
Mr Grech Pillow said that due to the success of the auction, Obelisk had started to once again accept arms and miltaria collections and entries for the upcoming auction.
"We will also be visiting some European collectors to include their items in our next auction," he said.
