A cyclist who stands accused of the attempted murder of a motorist was granted bail once more today after it was revoked last week on appeal.
Daniel Briffa, 22, is alleged to have slashed Nezar El Gadi across the face after an argument which developed when he knocked a side mirror on Mr El Gadi’s car.
During the arraignment, defence lawyer David Gatt insisted that his client was innocent until proven guilty and that there were sufficient guarantees to bind his client to the court's orders.
After the court granted bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000, the Attorney General appealed, asking for the bail conditions to be made more stringent or for the accused to be kept under preventive custody. The court revoked bail since there were four witnesses that still had to be heard.
However bail was granted once more today after the court found that all main witnesses had now been heard.
The court, however, ordered a personal guarantee of €30,000 and a deposit of €20,000
