Abigail Agius, a pupil at St Nicholas College Attard Primary, placed second in this year's Francofête competition organised by the Maltese French Resource Centre. Fifty-three schools in Malta took part in the annual contest.

In last year's edition, another pupil at the same school, Jerome Frendo, had come first.

Earlier this year, Silvio Pace, a Year 6 teacher at the school, took his pupils to the French centre. During the visit, the pupils used a recipe to bake a yoghurt cake, learnt to sing the song Sur le pont d'Avignon, and took part in a quiz after watching a Powerpoint presentation on France.
