(Adds charge against third man)

A 31-year-old man from Attard was arraigned in court this morning to face charges 47 charges which include 13 thefts from cars.

Dennis Cilia was also accused of thefts from the Ta' Qali crafts village and from individuals, with his haul including an alarm system.

He was also accused of threatening policemen at police headquarters and using foul language in public.

Mr Cilia pleaded not guilty,

Earlier, Alexander Whiteford, 24 of Sta Venera pleaded not guilty to stealing jewellery worth some €11,000 from a Pieta' residence. He was also accused of damaging the property and relapsing.

Jose' Herrerra and Veronique Dalli were defence counsel in both cases.

In another case, Sammy Spiteri, 33 of Gzira, was granted bail this morning after being accused of approaching a witness in an attempt to get him to give false evidence in court. He denied the charge.

Bail was granted against a personal guarantee of €2,329.
