The ATP, the governing body of men's tennis, said yesterday it had found no evidence of betting violations by anyone involved in a controversial match between Nikolay Davydenko and Martin Vassallo Arguello last year.

The Association of Tennis Professionals started an investigation after British online company Betfair reported irregular betting patterns during the match in Sopot, Poland on August 2, 2007.

"ATP can confirm today that it has concluded its investigation and found no evidence of a violation of its rules by either Mr Arguello or Mr Davydenko or anyone else associated with the match," a statement said yesterday.

Meanwhile, four Italian players banned for betting on matches intend to sue the ATP Tour for violation of privacy over its handling of their cases.

The ATP handed Potito Starace, Daniele Bracciali, Federico Luzzi and Giorgio Galimberti bans ranging from six weeks to 200 days between Dec. 2007 and Feb. 2008.
