For centuries, beauty was always the most potent realm for artists to explore and to create aesthetically appealing imagery in their work. Aspects of Beauty is the title for the seventh solo art exhibition by Bulgarian artist Vania Goshe.

In this exhibition, Goshe is showing a selection of work that includes figures, typical Maltese scenes and still life. Since settling in Malta in 2008, the artist found her artistic path involving aesthetics, a sensitive palette, rich textures and an expert hand that hurls her passion to create in drawing and painting everything that is beautiful.

Goshe is known for using very vibrant colours, many times more intense than the real. We see this mostly in her studies of the landscape, still life and other colourful designs and abstract work. Her attempt to realise beauty is derived from a variety of sources and her inspiration is developed from everything that surrounds us.

The artist employs a range of media depending on the nature of the work. She uses pastel mostly when working on portraits or figures and acrylics as her favourite medium for her landscapes.

Although she works in a variety of media and materials, her works tend to favour acrylics and pastels, as she finds these complement her style, with the pastels giving softer tones and lending themselves to creating very subtle gradations of colour necessary in portraiture for a realistic and natural result. Goshe’s abstract works, on the other hand, tend to feature acrylics, favouring the brighter end of the spectrum which reflects the artist’s optimistic and energetic approach to life and art. In some works, acrylics are used with other materials to create 3D effects in collages, especially on subjects which combine realism and fantasy.

Aspects of Beauty is running at ir-Razzett tal-Markiz Mallia Tabone, Mosta , until June 8.
