The fifth round of the Assoccjazzjoni Sport Muturi (ASM) Poiatti Autocross and Banger races will be held on Sunday at Ta' Qali, starting at 11 a.m.
The Autocross national championship is still wide open and it is difficult to predict a winner.
Noel Vella is topping the standings with 19 points, two ahead of Joseph Micallef and Michael Pace.
Patrick Cassar, on his new Opel Corsa, follows with 13 points.
The current standings also prove that Escorts are still highly competitive when compared to the modern front wheel drive cars.
In the Banger class, Pierre Carabott and Dennis Vassallo are once again in the lead. Tony Spiteri (no. 90) and Mark Micallef (no. 21) are joint third.
Competitors are now gearing up for Sunday's event as competition is becoming even tighter for a place in the 'A Class' autocross finals.
The number of drivers is increasing in almost each event, yet, Autocross Offroad Circuit Racing standards were also improved.
The ASM is also holding a ladies' autocross meeting on Saturday afternoons. Autocross drivers final A and B fun races will also be included in next Saturday's programme.
