Air traffic disruption caused by an ash cloud drifting over Europe hit flights between Italy and Malta today.

Air Malta cancelled this morning's flight to Malpensa/Milan while Easyjet cancelled its flight to Malta from Rome.

The cloud yesterday also led to the cancellation of a flight to Malta from Barcelona by Iberia/Vueling.

Many airports in Spain, Portugal and France remain closed this morning and UK authorities have warned that flights in Ireland and parts of Scotland may also be affected.
