Malta champion Matthew Asciak will be taking part in an international indoor tournament in Salzburg, Austria this month.

Asciak has been accepted into the main draw in a tournament that attracts players from all parts of the globe. The qualifying entry round involves 128 players.

Before the Salzburg competition, Asciak, who is benefiting from a sponsorship by German airline Lufthansa, will be training in Palermo to acclimatise himself with the conditions of indoor tennis.

Meanwhile, last month the Gordon Asciak Tennis School hosted 15 players and two coaches from the Tennis Club Palermo.

Asciak School's juniors figured in some matches with the Palermo players and also joined the visitors for training drills.
