The Aquatic Sports Association (ASA) yesterday announced that there will be no changes in the format of the national waterpolo league which gets underway next month, a few days after the Winter League comes to a close.

The same pattern of competition will be followed as that of last year when all participating teams figured in a preliminary round on a round robin basis.

The top four teams, who again face each other at the end of the preliminary round, will play in two further rounds to determine the Division One champions.

The others will contest the Division Two league. The points gained from the preliminary round will be carried to the final phase.

The Division One matches on Tuesday, June 29, a public holiday, will have a double purpose.

Sliema vs Neptunes and Marsascala vs Sirens, apart from the championship points at stake, will also contend for the President's Cup and Sportswriters' Association trophy respectively.

Tuesday's Winter League result: ASA Youths vs Marsascala Breakers 7-6.
