With reference to Kenneth Zammit Tabona's article Recognition Need-ed For Artistic Achievements (September 15), the Malta Qualifications Council fully acknowledges the importance of recognition for artistic achievements. This is supported by the work the Malta Qualifications Council has initiated in level rating the qualifications of private institutions in the artistic sectors, sports and personal services.

Furthermore, the directorate for lifelong learning in collaboration with the Malta Qualifications Council has initiated with the School of Art, Drama and Music a process for adding value to all certifications by referencing all qualifications to the level-descriptors of the Malta qualifications framework.

The process of level rating qualifications means that qualifications, including artistic qualifications, are referenced to the Malta qualifications framework as well as to the European qualifications framework.
