Arriva, which will be providing public transport in Malta for the next 10 years, has launched a recruitment drive ahead of starting operations on July 3, which has attracted significant interest from the people of Malta.

It said in a statement that with around 920 positions to fill, there were many exciting career opportunities with Arriva in Malta and Gozo.

“Arriva is looking to recruit more than 700 drivers and also has a range of operational support positions to fill including driver trainers, depot supervisors, operations controllers and ticketing and revenue assistants.

“Technical experts are also in demand, with positions available including engineers, mechanics, electricians and those skilled in body repair.

“Other career opportunities with Arriva include management, head office and administrative roles in areas such as HR, operations, finance, commercial and communications, IT, and training.”

Arriva’s Keith Bastow, said: “We are creating significant new job opportunities and I am convinced that there is a huge amount of talent in Malta waiting to be tapped.

“We are confident of building a team in Malta that will provide the backbone of our successful local operation.”

Mr Bastow said that the response so far has been very encouraging.

“More than 700 men and women have expressed interest in working for Arriva to date.

“Our recruitment teams are beginning to arrange interviews, basic numeracy and literacy tests, and basic car driving skills and road awareness assessments.

“However, there are still positions to fill and we would encourage anyone who drives for a living, as well as those car drivers who haven’t previously considered driving as a career, to get in touch with us.”
