Arriva said this afternoon that the temporary procedure set-up to minimise the impact on service caused by a number of inoperative ramps was still in place.

Wheelchair users who wished to travel on Arriva buses could call the company's Customer Care Centre on 2122 2000 noting their point of departure and their point of arrival.

Arriva would have personnel waiting at both locations, with portable ramps that will help passengers independently board and alight from buses.

The issue arose following the unavailability on both the local and international market of replacement parts necessary for the functioning of ramps on a number of articulated buses.

While ramps on other buses are functional, Arriva's engineering department is working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible, commissioning and sourcing out parts on an international scale.
