The police are expected to make court arraignments today following violent incidents at the end of yesterday's FA Trophy clash between Floriana and Valletta.

Video footage had showed a Floriana player being pushed to the ground and then pushed, after the final whistle.

There was also trouble on the terraces where a number of seats were thrown and a Valletta supporter was seen punching a policeman.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the MFA said the association will be studying the video footage and will take disciplinary action accordingly.

CALL FOR TOUGHER PUNISHMENT

Meanwhile, the Police Association deplored yesterday’s incidents, including the violence against policemen.

It noted that violence against policemen was increasing, and it therefore urged the government to raise the penalties imposed on people convicted of such crimes.

It also augured that the punishment imposed by the courts fitted the crime.
