A 33-year-old man from St Paul's Bay yesterday pleaded not guilty to trying to seriously injure a couple in Paola on Tuesday afternoon.

Joseph Muscat was also charged before Magistrate Audrey Demicoli with causing slight injuries to the woman, driving at speed and in a negligent manner and failing to stop when involved in a traffic accident. Magistrate Demicoli granted him bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 (Lm429.18) and a deposit of €200 (Lm85.83).

Police Inspectors Alexander Grech and Spiridione Zammit prosecuted.

Lawyers Joseph Giglio and Stephen Tonna Lowell were defence counsel.
