The article Arms Export Discrepancy Blamed On Typing Error (March 3) contains a factual error. Contrary to what was reported, our company is not the agent of the Italian exporting company but simply the shipping agent of the vessel that had this transit cargo on board.

We would also like to emphasise that the cargo was not transshipped in Malta but was merely “in transit”. There is an important difference as trans-shipment means that the goods would have been unloaded in Malta and reloaded at a later stage, while “in transit” means that the goods remained on board the vessel they were originally loaded onto in Italy and at no time touched Maltese soil.
