I have just received my latest electricity bill estimate covering the period May 27 through to September 17, 2010.

I was very surprised to find the total €316.17. When I checked the bill to find out how much I really need to pay, the total came to €189.24, a mistake of €126.93. I checked other bills in our area and all the bills I inspected were well over 100 per cent above what they should have been.

Is ARMS Ltd over-calculating our bills willy-nilly or is it purposely trying to collect money that’s not due? ARMS must tell us what the problem is. If this is happening all over the island it means millions of euros are being taken out of the economy, helping to cause stagnation to the spending power that will hurt businesses and, in the long run, cause unemployment.

ARMS has had long enough to sort out any teething problems; if it cannot sort its problems then it’s up to the minister involved to sort ARMS out.

As a pensioner I find life hard trying to make ends meet. One thing is certain: We are not in a position to lend money to Enemalta.
