Aaron Schembri, 27, of Tarxien, was charged in court today with attempting to seriously injure his colleague Gerald Buhagiar on Friday afternoon.

Mr Buhagiar told the court that the fight broke out suddenly during an argument about overtime.

He said the company had decided not to pay overtime anymore and the Saturday shift was split alternatively between himself and Mr Schembri. However the two had disagreed about the arrangement  and Mr Schembri  punched him in the face – where he needed eight stitches.

Magistrate Gabrielle Vella granted Mr Schembri bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €12,000. She also ordered him not to approach his workplace and Mr Buhagiar in any way.
