Matthew Bonett, 2nd Year, Bachelor of European Studies (Hons)
"Although there is always room for improvement, I think the University is dealing appropriately with the latest advance in technology. The fact that there are lots of wi-fi hotspots on campus shows that the University is working towards improving its technological status. The e-sims (electronic student information management system) approach, which is very professional, also shows that the University is working on this improvement.

"Also, the European Documen-tation Research Centre, the department which runs my course, uses technology in a very professional manner. There are many well-equipped lecture rooms and centres.

"On the other hand, there is need for a more professional and modern system to seach for books at the University library."

Joseph Piscopo, M.Sc. Biology
"Even though over the past years there have been some improvements, there is still much to be done. Wireless internet should be accessible from every department and from everywhere on campus.

"The library needs to have access to more online books/journals because it is really outdated, and the lecture rooms need to be better equipped."

Clara Mangion, 1st year, Nursing diploma
"My course only allows me to comment about the facilities we have at Mater Dei. Student nurses have the facility of using fully-simulated ward laboratories with very sophisticated dummy patients.

"These labs have all the necessary resources for our skills and clinical practice, and they also allow students to familiarise themselves with the technology they will use once they are on the wards."

Lisa Young, 2nd year, B.Sc. (Hons) ICT in CSAI
"I don't know about the standard in other faculties but I think the Faculty of ICT is well-equipped.

"As regards the University in general, it is unacceptable that one cannot get a wi-fi signal on certain parts of campus, such as the Gateway Building."

Karl Agius, KSU Education Com-missioner, 1st Year M.Sc. Biology
"At the Faculty of Science, the Statistics and Operations Research department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories. The Biology department has a number of labs in an excellent state. Wi-fi is also available.

"However, the undergraduate labs are in dire need of refurbishment. In fact, KSU is working on a project concerning labs at University. The Chemistry department labs also need a good injection of funds. Wi-fi is unavailable here, unless you manage to connect via the nearby hub in the Maths and Physics Building.

"Although new and more sophisticated equipment is continuously bought, more funds are required in this sector."
