Recently in Dissett, comments on the leadership of Archbishop Paul Cremona included reference to his building bridges at a micro level, that is between the Church and individuals and small groups and not - for instance - between the Church and the State.
While being convinced that the Archbishop has the macro level in mind in this respect, I would like to congratulate him on the merit he has just been credited with because building wider bridges without a solid foundation would be simply building wobbly bridges. One mark of a real great man is that of making every man feel great.
In a retreat reflection Pope John XXIII, wrote: "I would not mind being thought a fool since even a fool should help people to understand what I firmly believe and shall assert as long as I live, that the Gospel is immutable and that in the Gospel Jesus teaches us to be 'gentle and humble' (Matt. 11:29), which, of course, does not mean weak and simple minded."
Our Archbishop lives the Gospel. This is, and will continue to be, the source of his strength and wisdom in his leadership.
