More than €75 million has been spent on the heritage sector in the past five years, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said today.

He was speaking during the opening of an extension of the Archaeology Museum in Republic Street .

Dr Gonzi praised Heritage Malta for making the museum more accessible to children.

He also said such initiatives improved Malta's tourism product.

Malta, he noted, attracted a record number of tourists over the past legislature.
